The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr. Nyesom Wike, has extended high praise to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the successful and peaceful conduct of the Area Council elections held across the nation’s capital on Saturday.
In a special national broadcast on Sunday evening, the Minister characterized the orderly nature of the polls as a triumph for Nigerian democracy and a clear validation of the “Renewed Hope Agenda.”
“The peaceful conduct of the election is a testament to the commitment of the people of the FCT to democracy and good governance,” Minister Wike stated. “Residents have demonstrated that they remain steadfast in their support of credible processes and cannot be swayed by those who refuse to see progress in our nation.”
The Minister lauded the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for delivering a free, fair, and transparent process, noting that the President’s support for Electoral Act amendments has significantly strengthened Nigeria’s democratic institutions.
Minister Wike congratulated candidates from all parties for their participation, specifically highlighting the victories of both the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as evidence of a robust and competitive landscape.
Recognition was given to the various security agencies for their dedication to duty, which ensured that voters could exercise their franchise in a safe and orderly environment.
Addressing the newly elected officials, the Minister urged them to lead with humility and commitment, focusing on bringing tangible development to the satellite towns and communities they represent.
The Minister reaffirmed the FCT Administration’s pledge to continue delivering the dividends of democracy in alignment with President Tinubu’s vision. He concluded by thanking the residents of the FCT for their trust in the current administration and their active participation in the democratic exercise.
