ElectHER CEO, Ibijoke Faborode and Special Adviser Joy Akut Partner with National Assembly Library Trust Fund for Women’s History Month
In anticipation of Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day, a significant collaboration is underway in Nigeria to advance women’s empowerment and political participation. In a strategic move to foster inclusion and greater representation, ElectHER CEO Ibijoke Faborode and Joy Akut, Special Adviser to the Deputy Speaker on Youth and Women Affairs, recently met with the Rt. Hon Henry Nwawuba, Executive Secretary of the National Assembly Library Trust Fund to explore avenues for collaboration.
One of the key outcomes of this meeting was the announcement of an upcoming art exhibition, set to take place on March 3, 2025, at the National Assembly Library. This initiative, jointly organized by ElectHER, the Office of the Deputy Speaker, and the Resource Centre, is designed to usher in International Women’s Day and serve as a powerful platform to promote women’s participation in politics and public life.
Women’s History Month serves as a crucial time to reflect on the strides women have made and the challenges that remain. The upcoming exhibition aligns with this global observance, offering a space to showcase artistic expressions that highlight women’s roles in leadership, governance, and activism. By integrating art into the conversation on gender inclusion, the exhibition aims to spark meaningful dialogue and inspire action toward increased representation of women in Nigeria’s political and public sectors.

The collaboration between ElectHER, the Office of the Deputy Speaker, and the National Assembly Library Trust Fund underscores the commitment of key stakeholders to drive positive change. ElectHER, known for its advocacy in bridging the gender gap in Nigeria’s political landscape, continues to play a pivotal role in supporting and amplifying women’s voices. The involvement of the Office of the Deputy Speaker further emphasizes the importance of institutional support in achieving gender parity.
As Nigeria prepares to celebrate International Women’s Day under the theme of empowerment and inclusion, this initiative represents a step toward fostering a more equitable society. The art exhibition is expected to attract policymakers, activists, and citizens alike, reinforcing the collective responsibility to champion women’s rights and representation. With this partnership, the National Assembly Library Trust Fund and its allies are setting the stage for a more inclusive and participatory future for Nigerian women in governance and beyond.
