NASS Department of Public Health Planning and Research Visits NALTF to Explore Collaboration

The National Assembly Library Trust Fund (NALTF) recently received a delegation from the National Assembly Department of Public Health Planning and Research, marking a significant step towards a cross-sector partnership aimed at advancing public health outcomes through knowledge and institutional support.

The courtesy visit was centered on exploring avenues for collaboration between both organizations, with particular interest in how NALTF’s resources—its libraries, data access, and outreach infrastructure—can support ongoing public health initiatives. The meeting emphasized the importance of health literacy, community engagement, and research dissemination, all of which are critical to improving the health and well-being of citizens across Nigeria.

Discussions also highlighted the mutual benefits of this partnership. For the Library Trust Fund, there is a unique opportunity to enhance the capacity of its staff by integrating training on public health education, research methodology, and access to health information. Such efforts will equip the institution to play a stronger role in supporting health-related projects and information access for the public.

The Executive Secretary, Rt. Hon. Henry Nwawuba, expressed optimism about the potential synergy and reiterated NALTF’s commitment to partnerships that strengthen institutional effectiveness and contribute to national development.

This engagement signals the beginning of what could become a model collaboration—merging the strengths of legislative knowledge systems with the pressing needs of public health advancement.
