Dear Co-Visionaries,
Today marks two remarkable years of dedicated service, institutional growth, and impactful transformation at the National Assembly Library Trust Fund (NALTF) .
Two years ago, His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, unveiled what was then merely a structure and an idea driven by vision. Today, together, we have transformed that vision into measurable milestones, visible progress, and tangible results.
As we commemorate this important milestone, I extend my profound appreciation to the management and staff of NALTF for your unwavering dedication, professionalism, resilience, and commitment to excellence. Your sacrifices, hard work, and belief in our mandate have continued to strengthen our vision of building a modern, knowledge-driven institution that supports legislative development, research, institutional memory, and capacity building in Nigeria.
Over the past two years, we have recorded significant achievements through teamwork, innovation, and purposeful leadership. Every milestone attained reflects the collective efforts of our staff, partners, and stakeholders who have stood firmly with us in advancing this noble mandate.
Within this period, NALTF has increased its physical and digital collections of books, journals, newspapers, magazines, and audio-visual materials by over 190%, significantly expanding access to legislative and research resources for lawmakers, scholars, and the Nigerian public.
We successfully revived the Legislative Digest, the official publication of the National Assembly, restoring an important platform for legislative documentation, policy discourse, and institutional communication.
We have also invested heavily in the development of our young and vibrant workforce through various capacity-building initiatives, training programmes, exchange opportunities, and institutional partnerships aimed at equipping our staff with the skills required to compete in a rapidly evolving knowledge economy.
In furtherance of our support to the National Assembly Management, NALTF has provided books, work tools, printing support for Hansards and official legislative records, as well as sponsored several capacity-building and exchange programmes designed to strengthen institutional efficiency and legislative effectiveness.
One of our landmark achievements remains the development of a world-class website that has become a reliable and authentic source of information on the National Assembly, its activities, and legislative processes. In addition, we delivered a state-of-the-art Bill Tracker platform that provides transparent and real-time updates on Bills, Motions, and Petitions as they progress through various stages of the legislative process.
We have equally enhanced the legislative and educational experience of visitors to the National Assembly by curating a memorable historical and institutional experience through our exhibitions of legislative artifacts, archival materials, historical documents, and memorabilia that reflect Nigeria’s rich democratic, cultural, and historical heritage.
Our growing social media presence and digital outreach have established us as the primary source for credible information about the National Assembly to citizens and social media users across YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, X, and TikTok. Our civic education initiatives, including school visitation programs, has offered students valuable opportunities to explore our resources and archives, inspiring a new generation of informed and engaged citizens.
Our Research Department continues to play a strategic role in supporting legislative work by producing well-researched policy papers and analytical reports on topical national and international issues. These research outputs equip lawmakers with deeper insights and critical perspectives necessary for informed legislative interventions and policy formulation.
Furthermore, we have strengthened partnerships with notable international and multilateral organisations, including the United Nations Development Programme, International Organization for Migration, and the Westminster Foundation for Democracy, among others, to enrich our institutional work with global perspectives and international best practices.
This anniversary is not merely a celebration of time, but a celebration of impact, progress, resilience, and the strong foundation we are collectively building for the future. While we acknowledge and celebrate our achievements, we also recognise that greater opportunities and bigger responsibilities lie ahead.
I therefore encourage all staff to remain steadfast in our shared commitment to the core values of Service, Professionalism, Integrity, Collaboration, Innovation, and Excellence as we continue this journey together.
On behalf of the Board and Management of the National Assembly Library Trust Fund, I sincerely thank you all for your service, loyalty, sacrifice, and belief in our collective vision.
As we look ahead, let us continue to grow, break new grounds, attain greater milestones, and build enduring legacies for future generations. As I always say, “the reward for hard work is more work.”
Congratulations to the entire NALTF family on Two Years of Impact.
One Team, One Dream, Mission Possible!
