The National Assembly Library on Wednesday, 10th September, hosted a delegation from the Westminster Foundation for Democracy (WFD), led by the esteemed Regional Director for Africa, Mr. Michael Nevin.
Rt. Hon. Henry Nwanwuba, the Executive Secretary of the National Assembly Library Trust Fund who received the delegation stated that “the visit was an important step toward exploring how the Library can work with WFD to support legislative research, policy development, and democratic strengthening in Nigeria.”

The meeting provided an excellent platform for a productive and insightful conversation about potential areas of mutual interest and collaboration.

It delved into how the Library can partner with WFD to enhance its resources and services, ultimately supporting the critical work of Nigerian legislators and people. This includes improving access to high-quality research materials, fostering evidence-based policy development, and, in a broader sense, contributing to the overall strengthening of democratic institutions in the country.
The official visit underscores WFD’s continued interest and dedication to supporting democratic processes across the African continent.
“I appreciate WFD’s continued interest in supporting democratic institutions across Africa, and I look forward to the opportunities this engagement could bring,” Nwawuba added.
This visit holds immense promise for enhancing the Library’s capacity to serve the National Assembly and, by extension, the Nigerian people.
