January 13, 2026—Recognizing the digital-first nature of modern governance, the National Library of Nigeria is proud to announce the launch of the Nigeria Budget Digital Archive (NBDA). This platform is specifically designed to host the multi-terabyte data associated with the repeal and re-enactment of the 2024 and 2025 budgets.
The complexity of “repeal and re-enactment” often leads to the circulation of “ghost drafts”—versions of the budget that were proposed but never passed. To combat misinformation, the NLN’s portal will serve as the sole authorized digital repository for the final, signed versions of the Acts.
Features of the Portal
- Line-Item Search: Users can search for specific projects in their local government areas across both the 2024 and 2025 re-enacted acts.
- Version Control: The portal allows users to see exactly what was changed from the “Repealed” version to the “Re-enacted” version.
- API for Developers: Tech-savvy citizens and Fintech apps can pull data directly from the NLN to create budget-tracking tools.
A Message from the National Librarian
“As the memory of the nation, we must adapt to the digital age,” said Prof. Anunobi. “The repeal of the 2024 and 2025 budgets is a massive administrative event. If we don’t provide the digital tools to understand it, we fail in our duty to the Nigerian public.”
The portal is now live at www.nln.gov.ng/fiscal-archive. The National Library encourages all Nigerians to download the “Citizen’s Guide to the Re-enacted Budgets,” a simplified 20-page summary available in English, Hausa, Yoruba, and Igbo.
