President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu arrived in Lagos in the early hours of Friday, concluding a highly successful and “historic” two-day state visit to the United Kingdom at the invitation of the British government.
The presidential aircraft touched down at the Presidential Wing of Murtala Muhammed International Airport at approximately 1:15 a.m. The President and First Lady were warmly received by a delegation of high-ranking officials, including Lagos State Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, the President’s Chief of Staff Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, and the First Lady of Lagos State, Mrs. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, alongside prominent leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The visit, which commenced on Tuesday, was marked by high-level engagements aimed at revitalizing the long-standing relationship between Nigeria and the UK.
President Tinubu and the First Lady were hosted by King Charles III and Queen Camilla at a spectacular state banquet held at Windsor Castle, celebrating the deep cultural and “living bridge” between the two nations.
Following the rigorous diplomatic schedule in London, President Tinubu is expected to remain in Lagos to observe the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations. The President will join fellow citizens in marking the conclusion of the holy month of Ramadan before returning to the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, to resume official duties at the Presidential Villa.
The return marks the successful completion of a visit that has been hailed by experts and government officials alike as a strategic turning point for Nigeria’s global economic standing and bilateral security cooperation.
