Order 41 – Matters of Public Importance
- Motion on Need to Review Approach in Addressing Insecurity in Katsina State – A Call for Immediate and Comprehensive Federal Intervention.
Sponsor: Sen. Dandutse Mohammed, Muntari (Katsina South)
The Senate accordingly resolves to:
i. Call on communities in Katsina and across Nigeria to remain united, vigilant, and supportive of security efforts, while resisting internal collaborators who undermine national security;
ii. Commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and security agencies for their rapid interventions and urge them to sustain coordinated operations until all criminal elements are flushed out;
iii. Urge President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to approve his pledge to create a new Military Barracks in the Zone;
iv. Direct the Inspector General of Police, to issue the new Squadron if established at least Three (3) Armoured Personnel Carriers (APC) to intensify intelligence-driven operations including forest combing, cross-state collaboration, and community-based intelligence systems across Katsina and other hotspots;
v. Direct the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and NEMA to provide immediate relief support to traumatized families and affected communities;
vi. Observe a One-minute silence for the memory of the departed souls.

VALEDICTORY SESSION
Valedictory Session for Late Distinguished Senator Okechukwu Ezea
Sen. Bamidele, Micheal Opeyemi (Ekiti Central – Senate Leader)
- That the Senate do now pay tributes in honour of Senator Okechukwu Ezea (11th August, 1963 – 18th November, 2025).
The remains of the Late Sen. Okechukwu Ezea was received by the Senate and tributes paid in his honour by Distinguished Senators of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The Senate moved for extension of time to enable seating beyond 3pm.
The Senate accordingly resolved to;
- Offered prayers to both Christian & Muslim.
- The Senate observed a minute silent in his honour.
- Send condolence messages to the family and the people of Enugu State.
- Send a high power delegation to the burial of the Late Senator.
- Proceed on a Procession to observe lying in state of the Late Senator and return back to the Chamber.
All prayers were adopted as recommended.
