The Senate took a bold move on Tuesday plenary session by directing the health sector to secure relevant medication to attend to patients bitten by snakes and other reptiles after the incident that claimed the life of the singer Ifunanya Nwagene on Saturday 31st January, 2026. Sen. Oluranti Idayat moved the motion on the floor of the Senate.
However, a total of five bills are on first reading, having three bills in the name of the senate leader Dist. Sen. Bamidele, Michael Opeyemi (Ekiti Central) with the following bill numbers (SB. 994),(SB.995)and(SB.996). The remaining two came in the names of Sen. Musa Mohammed Sani (Niger East) and Sen. Karimi Sunday Steve ( Kogi West) with the bill numbers (SB. 1015) and (SB. 1016) respectively.
Consequently, the report of the committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters; were taken and confirmation of the appointment of the nominee Hon. Justice Joseph Olubunmi Kayode Oyewole, JCA, was confirmed Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. Moving forward, the Senate went on a closed-door session.
