The Director-General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mrs. Zubaida Umar, today led the Agency’s management team to appear before the Senate Committee on Special Duties to defend NEMA’s 2026 budget proposal.
The budget defence session provided an opportunity for the Agency to present a detailed review of its 2025 budget performance, highlighting key interventions, operational achievements, and ongoing humanitarian response efforts across the country.
The Director-General also outlined NEMA’s strategic priorities and projected programmes for 2026, aimed at strengthening disaster preparedness, response, recovery, and risk reduction nationwide.
The session was chaired by the Chairman of the Committee, Senator Kaka Shehu Lawan, who was joined by other distinguished members of the Committee.
The lawmakers engaged the Agency’s management in robust discussions and commended NEMA’s efforts in delivering timely humanitarian interventions across the country.
