Nigeria’s Future Brighter Under Tinubu, Says Speaker Abbas

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, has declared that Nigeria’s future under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is now “brighter than we envisioned,” citing positive economic projections and ongoing reforms as signs of renewed national momentum.

According to a statement, signed by Musa Abdullahi Krishi, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity; Speaker Abbas made the remarks on Tuesday at the Progressive Governors Forum Renewed Hope Ambassadors Strategic Summit held at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja. The summit, themed “Taking Renewed Hope To The Grassroots: One Party, One Message, One Mobilisation Framework,” brought together party leaders and stakeholders to strengthen grassroots engagement on government policies.

Addressing participants, the Speaker said current projections place Nigeria’s GDP growth at a conservative 4.49 per cent, with the possibility of reaching 5.5 per cent or higher, describing the figures as being above global averages and worthy of celebration.

According to him, the summit was convened to establish a unified communication framework for promoting the achievements of President Tinubu’s administration at the grassroots level, while also countering misinformation surrounding policy reforms.

“We are at a juncture where the progressive report card of this APC administration must be boldly and proudly presented before the Nigerian public,” Abbas said, adding that reforms may be challenging in the short term but are designed to yield long-term benefits.

He highlighted key initiatives under the Renewed Hope Agenda, including the Renewed Hope Ward Development Programme, which aims to engage about 10 million Nigerians in productive activities. He also referenced efforts to enhance non-oil revenue generation, reduce interest rates, stimulate infrastructure development, and drive growth in agriculture, manufacturing, mining, and digital innovation.

The Speaker stressed that every member of the All Progressives Congress should see themselves as ambassadors of the Renewed Hope movement, noting that the structure spans all 774 local government areas of the country. He described the platform as a vital engine for grassroots mobilisation ahead of future elections.

Abbas further stated that the 10th National Assembly has consistently backed the administration’s socio-economic reforms with “vital legal frameworks” to ensure accountability, probity, and sustainability.

He said the legislature views the reforms not as routine policies but as deliberate and transformative actions, adding that tangible results are already emerging.

Calling for sustained support, the Speaker urged party members and stakeholders to help Nigerians understand the rationale behind the reforms and the long-term benefits expected from their effective implementation.

He also congratulated the Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, on his appointment as Chairman of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors. Abbas expressed confidence that, with the backing of the Progressive Governors Forum and other influential groups, the initiative would successfully propagate the achievements of the APC-led administration.

“The work of transformation is not over yet,” the Speaker said, emphasizing the need to deliver shared prosperity that directly impacts citizens’ livelihoods.
