Senator Ibrahim Mustapha, the lawmaker representing the Kaduna North Senatorial District, has officially resigned his membership from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Senator Mustapha cited the persistent and unresolved leadership crisis within the PDP as the primary catalyst for his departure. He noted that the internal friction has hindered the party’s ability to provide a cohesive platform for effective governance and political growth.
In his letter, the lawmaker stated:
“I write to inform you of my decision to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the African Democratic Congress. This decision is due to the leadership crisis affecting the party.”
He further explained that the move followed extensive deliberations with key stakeholders in his district:
“Subsequently, after wide consultations with my constituents and political associates, I have decided to join the African Democratic Congress to further my political career.”
Despite his exit, Senator Mustapha expressed his appreciation to the PDP for providing the platform that allowed him to serve the residents of Kaduna North. He extended his gratitude to his former colleagues and party members for their cooperation during his tenure under the PDP umbrella.
By joining the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Senator Mustapha signaled a renewed commitment to his legislative agenda and the aspirations of his constituents. The move is expected to bolster the ADC’s presence in the National Assembly as the party continues to position itself as a viable alternative in the Nigerian political space.
