Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, Ph.D., GCON, today received a high level United Nations delegation led by Ms. Ahunna Eziakonwa, UN Assistant Secretary-General and UNDP Regional Director for Africa, alongside the UNDP Resident Representative in Nigeria, Ms. Elsie Attafuah.
Discussions focused on strengthening Nigeria’s democracy through greater inclusion, constitutional reforms, women’s political participation, and expanding opportunities for persons with disabilities.
Speaker Abbas reaffirmed the commitment of the 10th House to building a more inclusive and representative legislature, while the UN delegation commended his leadership and the House’s reform agenda, describing Nigeria as pivotal to advancing democratic governance across Africa.
