The House of Representatives Committee on Polytechnic and Higher Technical Education has issued a firm deadline to the Federal Ministry of Education on Thursday, August 6, 2026, demanding full documentation on the implementation of the Federal Government’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programme by August 18, 2026.
The directive was issued during an investigative hearing at the National Assembly, following widespread dissatisfaction among lawmakers over the absence of key ministry officials.
In a stern warning, the committee extended a final summons to the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, to appear in person on September 17, 2026, cautioning that continued non-compliance could lead to constitutional or legislative sanctions.
Committee Chairman Hon. Kayode Laguda noted that the panel has repeatedly sought clarity on the TVET initiative, having issued multiple formal inquiries to the ministry dating back to January 30, 2025, without receiving a satisfactory response or representation.
