On October 1, 2026, Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, joined President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other prominent dignitaries in Lagos for the premiere of MKO, a landmark documentary honoring the life and enduring political legacy of the late Chief MKO Abiola.

The high-profile launch, held at the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and the Creative Arts, brought together top government leaders and cultural icons to celebrate the democratic pioneer. Directed by Nigerian American filmmaker Ose Oyamendan, the documentary offers a comprehensive look into Abiola’s pivotal role in Nigeria’s journey toward democracy, focusing on the historical June 12, 1993 presidential election and the political upheaval that followed its annulment.

Speaking on the impact of the project, Senator Barau highlighted the film’s importance as an educational resource for younger generations.
