At the First General Meeting of the Asian–African Parliamentary Council in Beirut, Lebanon, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, PhD, GCON, called for trade and investment frameworks to drive growth in green energy and the digital economy.
He stressed that the new Council will provide a platform to tackle shared challenges such as climate change, inequality, and sustainable development, while amplifying the voice of both continents in global affairs.
Speaker Abbas also presented Nigeria’s parliamentary scorecard, highlighting:
✅ The Reserved Seats for Women Bill on gender inclusion
✅ AI regulation and digital governance reforms
✅ Social reform and human rights legislation
On the sidelines of the meeting, Speaker Abbas also paid a courtesy visit to the Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, H.E. Nabih Berri, further strengthening parliamentary diplomacy.
