The Senate has confirmed Dr. Kingsley Udeh, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) from Enugu State, as a Minister of the Federal Republic.
His confirmation came after a screening session on the Senate floor on Thursday, according to Channels Television.
Born in 1978, Udeh previously served as the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Enugu State.
During the screening, senators asked him questions on national and foreign affairs, including Nigeria’s response to recent threats made by U.S. President Donald Trump.
In his response, Udeh said President Bola Tinubu was handling the matter through diplomatic means, describing it as “a matter of diplomacy rather than law.”
He also spoke on the call to separate the offices of the Attorney General of the Federation and the Minister of Justice, saying success in either setup depends on the honesty and independence of the officeholder.
After his presentation, the Senate asked him to take a bow and confirmed his appointment.
Ude’s confirmation comes after the resignation of Uche Nnaji, the former Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, who stepped down following a certificate scandal.
