Abbas Tajudeen Calls for Inclusive Reforms Ahead of National Assembly Open Week 2026

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, has emphasized that democracy thrives best when every segment of society is given a seat at the table. Ahead of the upcoming National Assembly Open Week, scheduled for July 14 to 16, 2026, the Speaker expressed his commitment to advancing conversations around structural inclusivity within Nigeria’s democratic framework.

A central focus of the Open Week will be the National Dialogue on the Electoral College Model for the Special Seats Bill for Women and Persons with Disabilities. Speaker Tajudeen highlighted this dialogue as a critical milestone in the collective effort to build a more representative and equitable democracy.

According to Tajudeen, the conversation is aimed at expanding civic participation, fortifying democratic institutions, and ensuring that historically underrepresented groups are not left behind. He described the initiative as a foundational step toward shaping legislative reforms that will ultimately deepen political inclusion and enrich the nation’s governance.

As the event approaches, the Speaker extended an invitation to citizens across Nigeria to actively engage in the national dialogue, urging a collaborative effort to drive meaningful democratic reforms.
