Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, represented President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the International Conference on National Security and Sustainable Economic Development held in Abuja.
The high-level event, jointly organised by the Muslim World League and Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa Iqamatus Sunnah (JIBWIS), drew an array of prominent religious, traditional, and political leaders from diverse ethnic and religious backgrounds across Nigeria and the international community.
Delivering the President’s address, Senator Barau conveyed President Tinubu’s appreciation to the organizers for the conference’s timely convening, noting that the global landscape is currently grappling with increasingly complex security challenges. He reiterated the administration’s steadfast commitment to securing the nation, emphasizing that the federal government remains focused on expanding gains across the security sector and other vital areas of national development.
In his charge to the delegates, Senator Barau called on participants to rigorously assess emerging security threats and proffer actionable, long-term solutions. He urged attendees to capitalize on the international platform to exchange perspectives that could inform regional, continental, and global peacebuilding efforts amid widespread security turbulence.
Reinforcing the administration’s core vision, Barau stressed that national unity remains paramount regardless of religious or ethnic differences. He noted that achieving a peaceful and prosperous Nigeria requires collective effort aligned with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Closing the address on behalf of the President, Senator Barau commended the Muslim World League for partnering with JIBWIS and selecting Nigeria as the host nation for the international gathering.
