The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Benjamin Kalu, held a substantive interactive meeting in London with Christina Scott, the Director General (Network) at the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO).
The discussions centered on Nigeria’s democratic and legislative priorities ahead of the 2027 general elections. During the meeting, the Deputy Speaker expressed gratitude for the FCDO’s continued support of Nigeria’s ongoing Constitution Review process and advocated for even deeper collaboration between the two nations.

Key legislative areas of focus during the dialogue included the Electoral Act 2026, the State Police Bill, the Reserved Seats Bill, and strategic preparations for the forthcoming elections.
In response, the FCDO reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Nigeria’s democratic governance, institutional strengthening, and reform agenda. The Deputy Speaker noted that partnerships of this nature remain critical as Nigeria works to enhance legislative representation, national security, and electoral integrity.
