The House of Representatives recorded some developments during its plenary session on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, including announcements of defections and solemn tributes to departed members.
NOTICE OF DEFECTIONS
The Deputy Speaker, Hon. Benjamin Kalu announced that a total of eight(8) members of the House of Representatives formally defected to other political parties, namely;
i. Usman Zubairu (Birnin Gwari/Giwa, Kaduna State) defected from APC – ADC
ii. Sani Yakubu Noma ( Argungu/ Augie, Kebbi State) defected from APC – ADC
iii. Mudashiru Lukman Alani ( Ayedire/Iwo/Ola-Oluwa, Osun State) defected from PDP- Accord Party.
iv. Adetunji Abidemi Olusoji ( Odo-Otin/Ifelodun/Boripe, Osun State) defected from PDP – Accord party
v. David Abel Fuoh ( Sarduana/Kurmi/Gashaka, Taraba State)
vi. Thaddeus Attah (Eti-Osa, Federal Constituency, Lagos State) defected from LP – ADC
viii. Abubakar Abdul Buba (Chanchanga Federal Constituency, Niger State) defected from PDP – APC
viii. Ibrahim Bello Mohammed, ( Birni- Kebbi/Kalgo/Bunza Federal Constituency, Kebbi State) Defected from PDP – APC.
CONDOLENCES AND TRIBUTES
The House paid tribute to the Late Hon. Mohammed Danjuma Hassan (Dawakin Kudu/Warawa Federal Constituency), Kano State.
The House also paid tribute to the late Sir Hon. Godwin Martins, a former member who served from 1979 to 1983. Members observed a moment of reflection in honour of his contributions to the legislature.
Following these solemn announcements, the plenary session was adjourned until Wednesday, March 22, 2026.
