On Thursday, June 5, 2025, the Executive Secretary of the National Assembly Library Trust Fund (NALTF), Rt. Hon. Henry Nwawuba, alongside members of the NALTF ICT Steering Committee, paid a courtesy visit to Vartika Rawat, the Acting High Commissioner of India to Nigeria.
The visit centered on exploring strategic collaborations with the Indian High Commission, particularly around adopting cutting-edge technology solutions to modernize Nigeria’s legislative processes. A key focus of the discussions was the development of an e-Parliament platform for the National Assembly, modeled after India’s globally recognized digital legislative systems.

India’s eParliament initiative—anchored on platforms such as Digital Sansad, e-Vidhan, and digital voting systems—is a comprehensive digital transformation program aimed at creating a paperless, efficient, and transparent parliamentary environment. It stands as a global benchmark for leveraging technology to improve access to governance and legislative efficiency.
The objective of the NALTF’s engagement is to bridge the gap between citizens and Parliament through technology, by making Nigeria’s legislative processes more accessible, efficient, and transparent. Through this collaboration, NALTF aims to connect with Indian technology providers and adapt best practices from India’s digital legislative model to serve Nigerian lawmakers, researchers, and citizens alike.
This partnership underscores Nigeria’s commitment—through NALTF—to modernizing its legislative infrastructure and enhancing democratic governance through innovation.
