CONDOLENCE MESSAGE ON THE PASSING OF FORMER PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI, GCFR
It is with a deep sense of loss and national reflection that I mourn the passing of His Excellency, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
President Buhari was a leader of uncommon discipline, whose devotion to Nigeria was reflected in every stage of his public service—first as a soldier, then as Head of State, and later as a democratically elected President. His leadership shaped many key institutions and reforms in our democracy.
For us at the National Assembly Library Trust Fund (NALTF), his memory holds special significance. It was under his administration—through his presidential assent in February 2023—that the enabling Act establishing the Trust Fund was signed into law. That singular act gave birth to a critical institution designed to strengthen the legislative process through research, capacity building, and the preservation of our parliamentary heritage.
We owe him a debt of gratitude for providing the legal foundation upon which we now operate. His support for knowledge-driven lawmaking and institutional development will remain an enduring part of his legacy.
On behalf of the Board of Trustees, management, and staff of the National Assembly Library Trust Fund, I extend our heartfelt condolences to the Buhari family, the people of Katsina State, and the entire nation.
May his soul find peaceful repose.
