President Tinubu Seeks Senate Confirmation for Zainab Marwa as NDDC Board Member

On Thursday, His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, officially requested the Senate to consider and confirm the appointment of Dr. Zainab Marwa to the Governing Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

The executive communication was formally presented and read during Thursday’s plenary session by the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio.

According to the President’s letter, the nomination aligns with Section 2(2) of the Niger Delta Development Commission Establishment Act. Dr. Marwa has been selected to represent the North-East zone on the commission’s board.

The appointment aims to fill the legislative vacuum left by Hon. Abdulrazak Namdas, the former North-East representative, who resigned from the board on March 30, 2026, to pursue a gubernatorial bid in Adamawa State.

“The Senate is invited to note that the appointment of Dr. Zainab Marwa is to fill a vacuum created by the resignation of the immediate past member of the board, Honourable Namdas Abdulrazak who resigned on the 30th day of March 2026 to contest the position of governor of Adamawa state,” President Tinubu stated in the official correspondence. “On this note, it is my hope that the Senate will consider and confirm the appointment.”

The committee has been tasked with vetting the nominee and is expected to present its findings and recommendations back to the Senate floor within the next one to two weeks.
