Senate Confirms Barrister Benedict Umeano for Second Term on Code of Conduct Bureau Board

The Senate has officially confirmed the nomination of Barrister Benedict Umeano for a second term as a member of the Governing Board of the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB), representing the South-East geopolitical zone.

The confirmation took place during Tuesday’s plenary session following the consideration and adoption of a report presented by Senator Neda Imasuen, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Ethics, Code of Conduct, and Public Petitions.

The legislative approval follows an official request from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, who had written to the upper chamber on April 22, seeking an expeditious confirmation of the nominee. The President’s request was made in accordance with Section 154(1) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).

Let me thank the President for the appointment, and congratulate Barrister Umeano and members of his family, and wish him a very successful service through the Code of Conduct Bureau of his fatherland. May God guide him and grant him wisdom to do the right thing for the benefit of this country.

Senator Godswill Akpabio

With this successful screening and Senate confirmation, Barrister Umeano is poised to continue his service in upholding transparency, accountability, and ethical standards within Nigeria’s public service.
