National Assembly Library Receives 9th Assembly Votes and Proceedings, Bolstering Nigeria’s Legislative Archive

Thursday, January 22, 2026 | The National Assembly Library has officially expanded its archival collection following the formal handover of the 9th Assembly Votes and Proceedings of the House of Representatives.

This significant addition ensures that the legislative activities, decisions, and historical records of the previous Assembly are preserved and made accessible for future research and public record.

The presentation was formally conducted by the Clerk of the House of Representatives, Mr. Yahaya Danzariya, who presented the bound records to the Library’s Executive Secretary, Rt. Hon. Henry Nwawuba.

The Votes and Proceedings serve as the definitive daily record of all business transacted in the House, including motions passed, bills considered, and resolutions reached, making them an indispensable resource for legal and historical accuracy.

Preserving Institutional Memory
Speaking on the significance of the handover, Rt. Hon. Nwawuba emphasized that such contributions are vital to the continuity of Nigeria’s democratic heritage.

Moments like this reaffirm the Library’s central role as the custodian of our legislative history and institutional memory. Each addition to our collection strengthens access to knowledge, supports research, and deepens public understanding of parliamentary work. I am delighted by this important handover and grateful for the continued collaboration that makes it possible.

Rt. Hon. Henry Nwawuba

By integrating these records into its permanent collection, the National Assembly Library continues to fulfill its mandate of providing lawmakers, scholars, and the general public with the tools necessary for informed governance
