Confirmation of Appointment
The Senate during wednesday’s plenary session, Presided by the Senate President, Distinguished Senator Godswill Akpabio has officially confirmed the appointments of Joseph Tegbe as Minister of Power and Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye as the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs .
The confirmation followed a formal request from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, which was processed by the Senate within 24 hours of receipt.
Furthermore, it was noted that going by the pedigree and disposition of the Minister of Power designate, Mr Tegbe, before the Senate, he stands in good stead to drive the power sector forward, which was observed strongly that an unsteady power supply has been a major hindrance to our industrial development, limiting the ability of our industries to compete favourably with their foreign counterparts.

In addition, five bills were introduced in the Senate, passing the first reading stage. These bills will now go through the legislative mill to determine if they will eventually be passed into law or not.

Notice of Defection
Senator Tony Nwoye, representing the Anambra North Senatorial District, has officially resigned from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to join the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
