House of Representatives Demands Urgent Relief for Warji Rainstorm Victims in Bauchi State

Following a devastating rainstorm that ravaged communities in Bauchi State, the House of Representatives has called on the Federal Government and humanitarian agencies to provide immediate relief materials to thousands of displaced residents.

The resolution followed a motion of urgent public importance moved by Hon. Adamu Hashimu Ranga, representing the Ningi/Warji Federal Constituency.

On June 4, 2026, a severe rainstorm swept through several communities across the Warji Local Government Area, including Katanga, Ranga, Tiyin, Gbanga, Haya (Wando), Baima, and Dallaji. The disaster resulted in:

-Over 4,332 households have been internally displaced.

-The tragic death of a 21-year-old man was recorded.

-Numerous residential buildings and public structures were destroyed or stripped of their roofs, completely disrupting electricity and basic amenities.

Hon. Ranga emphasized that the affected inhabitants are predominantly seasonal farmers and daily-wage artisans whose livelihoods have been entirely wiped out by the disaster, leaving them in desperate need of aid.

Disturbed by the growing humanitarian crisis, the House of Representatives officially resolved to:

-Urge the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the North East Development Commission (NEDC) to swiftly deploy relief materials to the affected communities and conduct a comprehensive damage assessment for further intervention.

-Mandate the House Committees on the North East Development Commission and Legislative Compliance to monitor the situation and guarantee full compliance with the resolutions.

-Observe a solemn one-minute silence in honor of the 21-year-old citizen who lost his life in the storm.

The plight of Warji residents deserves the urgent attention and support of the Federal Government. We must act swiftly to restore their livelihoods and rebuild what was lost.

Hon. Adamu Hashimu Ranga

The House has reiterated its commitment to ensuring that the victims receive the necessary socioeconomic and infrastructural support to recover from this unprecedented disaster.
