The National Assembly has officially rescheduled the resumption of plenary sessions for both the Senate and the House of Representatives from Tuesday, September 15, 2026, to Tuesday, September 29, 2026.
The directive was issued jointly by the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudden, according to a statement released by the Clerk to the National Assembly, Kamoru Ogunlana.
The extension is designed to provide adequate time for the completion of ongoing renovation and structural rehabilitation work across both legislative chambers.
“This postponement, as directed by the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, is to allow for the completion of the ongoing rehabilitation work in the two chambers,” Ogunlana stated.
The Clerk advised all Distinguished Senators and Honorable Members of the House of Representatives to adjust their schedules and legislative commitments to align with the revised resumption date.
