Senate Receives Seven FRC Board Nominees from President Tinubu for Confirmation

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has formally written to the Senate requesting the confirmation of seven nominees to the Board of the Fiscal Responsibility Commission (FRC).

The executive request was read on the floor of the upper chamber on Tuesday by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

In the official communication, President Tinubu explained that the nominations were submitted in compliance with Section 5(3) of the Fiscal Responsibility Act, 2007. The nominees submitted for confirmation include:

  • Dr. Abdullahi Maikano Saidu — Chairman
  • Muhammad Asma’u — Member
  • Muhammad Aliyu Makama — Member
  • Suleiman Gidado — Member
  • Louis Ndukwe — Member
  • Amechi Ugwele — Member
  • Olaniyi Onikola — Member

Following the reading of the letter, Senate President Godswill Akpabio referred the request to the Senate Committee on Finance for detailed screening, directing the committee to submit its report within two weeks.

The Fiscal Responsibility Commission is the statutory body established to enforce macroeconomic stability, ensure the prudent management of Nigeria’s financial resources, monitor compliance with fiscal regulations, and drive transparency and accountability in public financial governance.
