The National Assembly Library was the scene of a magnificent evening dedicated to celebrating Nigeria’s rich culture, heritage, and diversity, marking a key event in the nation’s ongoing Nigeria at 65 festivities.
The evening of October 2, 2025 was a comprehensive cultural showcase, featuring an exciting blend of entertainment, fashion displays, music, and spoken word, alongside an array of Nigerian food.


The evening was kicked off with a welcome addressed delivered by Rt. Hon. Henry Nwawuba, the Executive Secretary of the National Assembly Library Trust Fund (NALTF).

In a powerful welcome address, Hon. Nwawuba informed guests that the library would soon be organizing events to raise awareness about a special specie of gorillas in Cross River State facing extinction. He then invited attendees to enjoy the evening’s culinary offerings, which featured Nigerian delicacies from diverse cultures, much to the delight of the guests.

The event attracted significant diplomatic attendance, highlighting Nigeria’s international standing. Dignitaries from the embassies of Cuba, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, China, Venezuela and others were present. In their goodwill messages, members of the diplomatic community not only commended the NALTF for putting together such a wonderful celebration of Nigeria’s cultural heritage but also specifically acknowledged the importance of Nigeria at 65.




High-ranking legislative officials were also in attendance. The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas was represented by the Minority Leader of the House, Kingsley Ogundu Chinda, who delivered the Speaker’s goodwill message. The Majority Leader also attended the celebration and offered his own congratulatory remarks.


Highlights of the memorable night included the serving of authentic Nigerian cuisine, captivating displays of Nigerian fashion, live music, a moving rendition of spoken word and a tour round the artifacts at the Library. The event successfully showcased the beauty and depth of Nigeria at 65 as a moment to honour both our enduring culture and promising future.
