In a strategic step toward unlocking new avenues for youth empowerment and economic growth, the Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism, and the Creative Economy, Barr. Hannatu Musa Musawa, received the Director General of the National Institute for Sports (NIS), Comrade Philip Shaibu, to explore collaborative opportunities at the intersection of sports, tourism, culture, and the creative economy.
The high-level meeting centered on building a robust cross-sector framework designed to drive skill acquisition, generate sustainable jobs, and expand economic horizons for young Nigerians. By leveraging the natural synergies between the creative industries and the sports sector, the partnership aims to create a dynamic ecosystem where youth talent can thrive both nationally and internationally.
Speaking on the initiative, Barr. Musawa emphasized that integrating these key sectors aligns directly with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes youth development, non-oil economic diversification, and private-sector-led innovation.
The delegation discussed concrete plans to engage private sector stakeholders, higher institutions, and industry experts to build capacity and establish vocational and enterprise pipelines. Key focus areas include sports tourism development, cultural event management, creative production for athletic events, and specialized skills training tailored to modern market demands.
Comrade Philip Shaibu highlighted the readiness of the National Institute for Sports to provide technical expertise and institutional support, ensuring that young sports professionals and creatives gain practical, industry-ready skills.
