National Assembly Leadership Joins President Tinubu to Unveil New NRS Headquarters

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu officially commissioned the state-of-the-art Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) Headquarters in the nation’s capital today, marking a significant milestone in his administration’s drive for economic revitalization and streamlined tax administration.

The ceremony, which drew a high-powered gathering of the nation’s leadership, underscored the central importance of the NRS in the President’s “Renewed Hope” agenda. Joining the President for the ribbon-cutting were the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, GCON.

The new headquarters is designed to serve as the nerve center for Nigeria’s modernized revenue collection efforts. During his keynote address, President Tinubu emphasized that the facility represents more than just bricks and mortar; it symbolizes a shift toward a more transparent, technology-driven, and efficient fiscal framework.

“Our goal is to widen the tax net without overburdening the hardworking citizens of this country,” President Tinubu stated. “This facility will provide the NRS with the tools necessary to block leakages and ensure that every naira due to the federation is accounted for.”

The leadership of the National Assembly lauded the executive’s focus on non-oil revenue, calling the new headquarters a “fortress of fiscal responsibility to providing the legal framework necessary to support the NRS’s digital transformation.

The commissioning comes at a time when the federal government is aggressively pursuing a higher tax-to-GDP ratio to fund critical infrastructure and social intervention programs. With the launch of this new hub, the NRS is expected to accelerate its transition toward a fully automated system, easing the burden on taxpayers while maximizing national income.
