The National Assembly Library Complex recently served as the host venue for a critical civic initiative: the official establishment and training of the National Assembly Special Marshals.
The event was marked by the active attendance and participation of the Executive Secretary of the National Assembly Library, Rt. Hon. Henry Nwawuba, underscoring the leadership’s deep commitment to workforce development and national safety standards.

Organized by a delegation from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and led by the FCT Sector Commander, CC Tijani Iliyasu, the training program marks a significant milestone in fostering inter-agency collaboration and promoting a culture of safety within the legislative community.

Leadership Commitment to Safety and Discipline
The initiative is designed to embed institutional discipline, road safety awareness, and emergency response preparedness directly within the National Assembly complex. By transforming participants into active agents of traffic management and safety advocates, the program extends the library’s mission beyond information preservation into active community development.

Nwawuba, who closely observed the proceedings, commended the Federal Road Safety Corps for this valuable partnership and their commitment to fostering a culture of safety and responsibility. “Together, we can create safer roads and more informed communities,” he said.
Key focus areas of the training included:
- Road Safety Awareness: Understanding defensive driving and pedestrian rights.
- Emergency Response: Equipping marshals with basic first-aid and crisis management skills.
- Civic Discipline: Promoting adherence to traffic laws within and around the National Assembly complex.
Fostering Strategic Partnerships
The National Assembly Library remains committed to utilizing its space and resources to support programs that empower personnel and the wider public. We extend our highest commendations to the Federal Road Safety Corps for their seamless execution of this training and their enduring commitment to securing Nigerian roads. Through vital collaborations like these, the Library continues to support a safer, more informed, and highly responsible community.
