The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, Ph.D., GCON, today received H.E. Dr. Fatou Bensouda, High Commissioner of The Gambia to Nigeria, on a courtesy visit at the Speaker’s Office, National Assembly Complex, Abuja.
The meeting provided an opportunity to deepen parliamentary engagement and reinforce the longstanding ties between Nigeria and The Gambia. Discussions focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation, democratic governance, and shared priorities across the West African sub-region.
Dr. Bensouda is an accomplished international legal professional who previously served as Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (2012–2021). Prior to that, she was Deputy Prosecutor of the ICC and also served as Attorney-General and Minister of Justice of The Gambia. Her distinguished career reflects extensive experience in international law, justice sector reform, and global governance.
