Youth Inclusion in Governance: A Pathway to Sustainable Political Stability in Nigeria

Nigeria’s political instability is intensified by the exclusion of its youth, who form
over 60% of the population yet are marginalized in governance. This article explores youth inclusion as a critical strategy for sustainable political stability, employing qualitative analysis, empirical data, and African case studies. It proposes three interventions: policy reforms to reduce barriers to political participation, digital platforms for inclusive engagement, and comprehensive civic education to foster active citizenship. These measures can mitigate unrest, enhance institutional trust, and align governance with demographic realities. Recommendations emphasize inclusive policies, scalable technologies, and multi-stakeholder collaboration to harness Nigeria’s youth dividend for democratic resilience.
