The Executive Secretary of the National Assembly Library Trust Fund (NALTF), Rt. Hon. Henry Nwawuba, has joined the global community in celebrating International Women’s Day 2026, paying tribute to the achievements and contributions of women across the world.
In a message marking the global observance, Nwawuba commended women for their remarkable impact across different sectors of society. He noted that from boardrooms to classrooms, from homes to the frontlines of innovation and legislation, women continue to play vital roles in shaping communities and advancing national development.
Reflecting on this year’s theme, “Rights, Justice and Action for All Women and Girls,” the NALTF Executive Secretary emphasized the need to amplify the voices of women and strengthen support for their rights and aspirations. He stressed that societies can only achieve sustainable progress when women are empowered and given equal opportunities to contribute.
According to him, recognizing the talents, innovations, and leadership of women is essential for building stronger communities and promoting inclusive development.

On the same vein, according to NALTF, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, who represents Bende Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon Benjamin Okezie Kalu, CFR, emphasized that empowering women is not merely a social obligation but a catalyst for far-reaching national benefits.
Henry Nwawuba further called for collective action by governments, institutions, and citizens to create opportunities that allow women and girls to thrive and participate fully in national and global development. This comes on the heels of the celebration of the International Women’s Day by the President of the Nigerian Senate .
Nwawuba concluded by congratulating women across Nigeria and around the world on International Women’s Day 2026, while encouraging continued advocacy for equality, justice, and inclusive participation in all areas of life.
