Six Lawmakers Defect to APC

Six Nigerian lawmakers have defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) from their respective parties. Five of the lawmakers, who represent constituencies in Enugu State, left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), while one lawmaker from Plateau State defected from the Labour Party (LP).

The defecting lawmakers from Enugu State are Hon. Nnolim John Nnaji, Rep. Anayo Onwuegbu, Rep. Oke Martins, Rep. Obetta Mark Chidiebere, and Hon. Dennis Nnamdi Agbo. They were joined by Hon. Daniel Asama, who represents Jos North/Bassa Federal Constituency in Plateau State.

The lawmakers cited Governor Peter Ndubisi Mbah’s leadership as a key reason for their decision to join the APC. Nnaji stated that the defection marked a bold step into the future, aimed at repositioning Enugu State for greater participation in national politics and governance.

The lawmakers believe that joining the APC will enable them to attract more federal projects and development to their constituencies. They commended Governor Mbah for his courage and leadership, noting that his administration has inspired confidence and progress in Enugu State.

In a statement, Nnaji emphasized that the decision to defect was not taken lightly, but was driven by a desire to see the people of Enugu State rise above limits and take their rightful place in the national spotlight. He called for unity across political divides, stressing that politics should be a tool for service, not division.

The defection marks a significant shift in the state’s political landscape, with the lawmakers expressing hope that it will usher in a new era of development and progress for Enugu State.
