The Executive Secretary of the National Assembly Library, Rt. Hon. Henry Nwawuba, has joined the global community in celebrating women worldwide as part of activities marking the 2026 International Women’s Day.
In a message commemorating the occasion, Nwawuba paid tribute to the remarkable contributions of women in various spheres of life. He highlighted that women, whether in boardrooms, classrooms, homes, or on the frontlines of innovation and legislation, continue to play a crucial role in shaping societies and advancing development.
Reflecting on this year’s theme, “Rights, Justice and Action for All Women and Girls,” Nwawuba emphasized the importance of amplifying women’s voices and ensuring their rights, innovations, skills, and aspirations receive due recognition. He stated that the progress of communities is closely linked to the empowerment of women.
“When women are elevated, communities are elevated, and society becomes better,” he said, while reiterating the need for a collective commitment to creating opportunities that enable women to thrive and contribute meaningfully to national and global development.
Nwawuba concluded by congratulating women around the world and called for sustained advocacy for equality, justice, and inclusive participation in all areas of life.
