ES Nwawuba Receives House of Reps Committee Clerks

The National Assembly Library Complex recently received an institutional delegation of Committee Clerks from the House of Representatives. The visit was aimed at exploring avenues to integrate the Library’s empirical research assets, statutory repositories, and information services into the daily workflows of parliamentary committees.

The delegation was officially received by the Executive Secretary of the National Assembly Library, Rt. Hon. Henry Nwawuba, during a working session and subsequent courtesy call at his office. The engagement underscores the management’s strategic focus on establishing the Library as a central, proactive knowledge hub that directly supports the legislative and oversight functions of parliament.

Integrating Legislative Archives with Committee Oversight

During the working sessions, the Committee Clerks conducted a detailed tour and interactive review of the Library’s physical collections, digital databases, and archival systems. Discussions focused on how committee secretariats—the procedural engine rooms of parliamentary business—can leverage structured research to draft well-researched committee reports, conduct thorough public hearing analyses, and perform effective statutory oversight.

Leadership Commitment to Legislative Efficiency

In his remarks during the courtesy call, Rt. Hon. Nwawuba commended the clerks for their proactive initiative, reiterating that an informed legislature is fundamentally a more effective and resilient legislature.

Reaffirming the Library’s institutional mandate under his leadership, the Executive Secretary called upon all administrative directorates, standing committees, and parliamentary officers to actively utilize the rich resources of the Library. Under his direction, the institution remains dedicated to breaking information silos and providing the research infrastructure required to elevate Nigeria’s legislative processes.
