The Bill for an Act to Amend the Federal Medical Centres Act, 2022 to Establish Federal Medical Centre, Uluoke-Uzaire, Edo State and for Related Matters (HB. 633) is making headway in the Nigerian House of Representatives. The bill, sponsored by Hon. Julius Ihonvbere, who represents the Owan Federal Constituency, has reached the critical Third Reading stage.

The purpose of this bill is to establish a Federal Medical Centre in Uluoke-Uzaire, which aims to enhance healthcare services in the region.

It is noteworthy that a similar initiative has been accompanied by another bill sponsored by Hon. Anamero Sunday Dekeri, representing the Etsako Federal Constituency, which also seeks to establish a Federal Medical Centre in Uluoke-Uzaire. This alternative bill has already been approved by the House and has completed its Third Reading, highlighting the importance of healthcare development in the area.

As the legislative process unfolds, stakeholders and community members remain attentive to the outcomes of both bills, with the hope that enhanced medical facilities will lead to improved healthcare access and services in Edo State.
