The engagement will also bring together policymakers, stakeholders, and representatives of Nigerian communities abroad to deliberate on strategies for effective Diaspora participation in national development, enhanced welfare coordination, and investment mobilisation.

Speaking on the event, Rep. Tochukwu Chinedu Okere, Chairman of the House Committee on Diaspora, said the NIDRes innovation marks a significant step in strengthening institutional responsiveness to the needs of Nigerians abroad.

“We are launching a robust application, NIDRes, which promises to provide solutions to the challenges faced by our citizens in the Diaspora: from identity harmonisation and communication to data coordination and policy feedback. This platform is a product of genuine collaboration between Parliament and the Executive through NiDCOM,” Rep. Okere stated.

On her part, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa noted that the engagement comes at a critical time in shaping the future of Nigeria’s Diaspora policy.

“This conversation is vital to deepening Diaspora engagement. It is important to see how we can adopt a holistic approach to our Diaspora, particularly as we gear up for the review of the Diaspora Policy in 2026. Your inputs at this forum will help guide meaningful reforms. Together, let us write a new chapter where the Nigerian Diaspora is not just a source of remittances but a catalyst for national growth and development,” she said.

The 10th Assembly, House of Representatives, remains committed to fostering partnerships that strengthen national unity, harness Diaspora potential, and ensure that every Nigerian, home or abroad, remains an integral part of the country’s development journey.
